Early Evening Jazz: Zacc Harris’s American Reverie

Inspired by a return to his former home near the Shenandoah Mountains in 2015, Minneapolis-based guitarist Zacc Harris launched American Reverie, a project that reimagines classic American folk songs through the lens of contemporary jazz. Featuring bassist Matt Peterson and drummer Lars-Erik Larson, the trio’s 2017 debut album received critical acclaim for its fresh, understated arrangements and Harris’ eloquent guitar work. A mainstay of the Twin Cities jazz scene and a founding member of the Atlantis Quartet, Harris has performed across the United States and United Kingdom; highlights have included London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and major jazz festivals. His albums Small Wonders (2021) and Chasing Shadows (2024) have earned praise from DownBeat magazine and beyond.
